The cold compress can stay for about 15 minutes and then you should repeat it over time. You are not allowed to press it right on the injury area because it can lead to worse damage of the tissue or the main condition of your eye.

After it passed 48 hours, you better change it to the warm compress for more effective first aid if you want to turn back the skin color to the normal. You can use washcloth or simply a towel and put it on the swollen or bruised eyelid area.

The bruise may start with red and then black. After the warm compress then it will turn blue, purple and then green or yellowish.
